Meet quiara smith
I have been a practicing Occupational Therapist for over 10 years in both California and in Hawaii working in various settings including hospitals, schools, an equine center providing hippotherapy as a treatment tool, and outpatient clinics.
While working for a well known specialty children hospital in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was introduced to the area of pediatric pelvic floor therapy. I had never heard about it, but I am always down to learn more things that could be of interest to me, and man did I hit the JACKPOT! If you told me that I would LOVE to talk pee and poop all day everyday with kids and help them achieve continence and bowel and bladder control, I would have said, “NO WAY, you’re crazy!”
But 6 years into the specialty area of pediatric pelvic health OT (11 years total as an OT), I can honestly say I’m loving it even more now, since I own my own private practice serving this population exclusively in my clinic!
I created Aloha Integrative Therapy because I wanted to branch out on my own to create, develop, and fine tune my holistic and integrative approach to treating these children with bowel and bladder dysfunction. My canine assistant, Nelly, and I guide children and parents toward their pelvic floor OT goals in a meaningful way, helping each child “live life to its fullest!”
Not only do I help families overcome their bowel and bladder challenges, I also help other therapists transition into the world of pediatric pelvic health.
And for you that want to learn more about pediatric pelvic health with a holistic and integrative approach, I have created an Online Course that will give you all the support you need in this journey. Stay tuned for more information!
